What temporary car insurance does
A temporary policy can insure one eligible driver on one vehicle for a defined period. It may suit borrowing a car, driving a purchase home, arranging a test drive or sharing a journey. It is separate from the vehicle owner’s annual insurance.
Start with the right car
Enter the registration and confirm that the returned make, model and other details match the vehicle. The quote and certificate must relate to the car you actually intend to drive.
Describe the real journey
Choose the reason for cover and allow enough time for collection, traffic, stops and the return. The intended use must be permitted by the policy wording shown before purchase.
Wait for active cover
A saved quote or successful payment screen is not enough on its own. Do not drive until the policy is confirmed and the certificate shows the correct driver, vehicle, start and finish.
