ROAD-READY GUIDE

A separate policy for sharing a long drive.

Plan the handover points, cover the whole driving window and keep the owner’s vehicle details accurate.

◆ Named driver◆ Journey-length cover◆ Owner permission
01

Why share the driving

Long journeys can be tiring. A properly insured second driver can take planned sections, but temporary insurance does not replace rest breaks or safe journey planning.

02

Use the exact vehicle

Start with the registration and verify the car. The policy cannot be moved casually between vehicles, even if the journey plan changes.

03

Choose the driving window

Cover every point at which the temporary driver may take over, including unexpected congestion. They must stop driving before the policy expires unless further active cover is in place.

04

Check each person’s position

The named temporary driver receives their own policy. The owner and any other driver still need their own valid insurance and permission for the parts they drive.

Check before taking the road
